A. Sybase will support Sybase products running on VMware as long as the OS running in the virtual machine is certified by Sybase. However, if Sybase is unable to reproduce an issue the customer may be asked to reproduce the problem running natively on the certified OS, without the use of VMware. Sybase does not explictly test or certify products running in a VMware environment.

A. Each candidate will have one hour and fifteen minutes to complete the exam which consists of 48 multiple-choice questions.

A. There are three main types of certifications: Test, Implied and Paper.

• Test Certification:This is the most common type of certification. In this type of certification, a set of certification test suites is run to validate and test the new operating system and/or hardware environment. The certification test suite is a major subset of the test suite used to validate the product prior to release. This testing ensures that the operational functionality of the product is not affected by the changes in the new environment.
  
  
• Implied Certification: There are 2 types of implied certifications:
  • When a version of ASE is certified on a specific operating system version, all subsequent releases of ASE in the same version family are considered certified on that operating system version. In general, if ASE XX is certified on Sol 8, then all subsequent releases of ASE XX.x.x including EBFs are considered certified on Sol 8.
    
    
  • If one vendor's operating system is run on hardware provided by another vendor, then Sybase will support users on the alternate hardware so long as the manufacturer guarantees it runs all binaries exactly as the original does. As long as this "binary compatibility" is valid any customer case should reproduce on the OS vendor's own hardware. If this reproduction ever fails the customer should open a case with the hardware vendor. Sybase does not have any responsibility for the platform specific problems. The platform specific problems are the platform owner's responsibility. If the problem is reproduced on a hardware explicitly certified by Sybase, then Sybase will fix the issue.
• Paper Certification: This is a certification based on the technical evaluation of the operating system and/or hardware documents. Usually no certification tests are run for a paper certification, since it is based on technical documentation received from the Vendor of the O/S or H/W.

A. Space your time accordingly and do not spend too much time on each question. When answering a question, you'll have the opportunity to mark an answer "for review". Keep this in mind, as it will allow you to revisit your marked questions later, before finally submitting your exam.

A. There will be a total of 60 questions in this exam.
The scoring grade is 65%.
You will need to answer a minimum of 39 questions correctly in order to pass this exam.
